He said the over 30,000 sq ft building was expected to restart operations in December. The express carrier is now operating from a leased building nearby.

“We have allocated about RM5.5mil to purchase the building and land, RM1mil to upgrade courier processes and network development, RM2.5mil on conveyer belt system to enhance customer service and to improve processing speeds”, Teong told StarBiz. He said after the upgrade, the hub would triple its current capacity of 20,000 consignments per day.?

Teong was optimistic that GDEX, a provider of express services (24-hour delivery domestic), diplomatic services (same day express), bulk service, customised logistics solution services and freight services, would have a healthy double-digit growth rate in turnover for the next five years.?

“The hub will ensure GDEX provide enhanced efficient delivery service to compete with international players. We hope to benchmark GDEX as a home-grown multinational company”, he said.
